Breathwork

  • Yes, light-headedness is common at the start of the active breathing, but it usually passes quickly if you maintain the breathing pattern. If you’re new to this type of breathwork, feeling tingling or numbness in your hands, feet, or face is quite typical. If these sensations become too intense, you can pause and return to the practice later or adjust your breath to be shallower or slower. As you continue with your breathwork, these sensations usually diminish. This can be seen as stuck energy being released from the body. It's helpful to embrace the process and trust in the healing taking place. Listen to your body and emotions to understand their needs. Breathwork can profoundly connect you with your body, emotional intelligence, intuition, and self-healing abilities.

  • Whatever feels beneficial to you. If you’re drawn to practicing daily, consider starting with shorter sessions, especially if you’re new to it (10-15 minutes). Breathwork aids in regulating your nervous system, hormones, and overall emotional and physical state. Longer sessions can help you delve deeper into releasing stuck energies and exploring spiritual aspects. • I recommend listening to yourself, as you are your best guide. Breathwork often brings up what needs to be released or shifted. While there are general patterns in where emotions and memories might be stored, everyone is unique. Consider what might have been held in that area and what you felt was being released. Trust any memories or insights that arise. If you sense that there’s more emotion or energy to process, try not to fixate on the physical sensations. Instead, surrender to your body’s natural healing ability. You might explore questions like, “How is this situation helping me? How can it guide my growth? What beliefs do I need to release around this? How can I support my body, heart, and soul?”

  • Yes, it's common to experience strong emotions during and after breathwork. Stimulating the autonomic nervous system helps the body release stuck energy, and whatever surfaces is signaling a need to be felt, processed, and transformed. Emotions are crucial for healing and personal growth—they need to be acknowledged and embraced. Suppressing emotions can lead to anxiety, depression, and even physical illness. Breathwork creates a space for these emotions to be addressed. Instead of trying to eliminate unwanted emotions, view them as "energetic feedback" about your alignment with your true self (the soul) versus your conditioned self (the ego). Approaching your breathwork session with an openness to understand and process your emotions can help you access the deeper wisdom they offer. Consider setting an intention to uncover any false beliefs or conditioning that may be affecting your emotions and to discover the deeper lessons and purposes behind them.

  • As with any activity during pregnancy, it's important to consult your doctor or birth professionals if you have any concerns. This is not medical advice. While each pregnancy is unique, extra caution is generally advised during the first trimester. If breathwork (or any similar practice like yoga or running) is already part of your routine, it is usually safe. Women at various stages of pregnancy have participated in breathwork sessions. If you choose to practice, take it easy and listen to your body's intuition as you navigate this special time of bringing new life into the world.
